Before my first wedding photography assignment, I am glad that I did helped out for my own sister and relative shoot; although I am not the official photographer.
Following the official photographer was pretty fun. You need to be fast in capturing the moment, also to anticipate what is going on next. And, not to forget, guiding.
Newly wed couple can be forgetful during on the actual day, not to say about the 'brothers and sisters'. So the wedding photographer had their own task to guide them along, what to do next and follow his or her command. Everyone have their own part part to contribute. The only clear minded person is always the main photographer.
As an official photographer, timing is very important - punctuality.
You cannot afford to miss the part when the make up artist is doing the make up on the bride. Most of the women would like to see their beautiful face on the mirror with the wedding gown.
Majority of the couple would want to have 2 photographers, the husband and the wife's place. One of them is taking the main images, while the one other - journalistic or whatever style you want to call it.
I am glad that I took both side before.
Unlike the bride side, they have a lot to take care of; the groom, fast and quick.
